MaryBeth Karaus : Composing and Painting a Still Life — January 17 – 18
For intermediate to advanced students.
Fundamental understanding of using oil paint required.
A beautiful still life usually isn’t a random arrangement of objects. To achieve a well-designed painting, objects are specifically
chosen for their shape or color and placed in an intentional arrangement. This arrangement is translated into abstract shape
that forms an interesting composition. But why? And how?
Join MaryBeth Karaus for a two-day workshop and learn how to compose and paint a still life. Upstairs under the skylights, the class will paint from life and come to understand how to intentionally place objects to create a well-designed painting. You will be introduced to a very important tool called the Value/Edge Sketch that will give you freedom to enjoy the painting process in your own style and technique.
